To all my newbie knitters . . .

A few of you have reached out asking for advice on where to purchase yarn for our upcoming class. If you’re new to knitting, I recommend visiting a store to touch and feel the yarns. It will give you an idea of what you like for future purchases (online or in-store). Click “More” below for a quick & dirty list of my online and local faves:

Online:

Jimmy Beans Wool – great selection, good customer service (they allow you to return unused, non-sale yarn) and user friendly site.

Yarnmarket – good selection, quick shipping options.

Stores:

Purl Soho – still my favorite yarn shop in New York City. A cozy and inspiring shop, makes me want to stay there forever!! For yarn shops, this is high-end and a bit on the pricey side. Check out the selection on the right hand side (near cash register) for more affordable yarn options.

Lion Brand Yarn Studio – Lion Brand is a widely distributed yarn manufacture for mid-range yarns. Great customer service, bright and friendly shop. Economical prices and good for beginner knitters.

**Williamsburg Friends** Sadly, both the Yarn Tree & Spacecraft are now closed. For this reason, I’ve been relying on shops in NYC and online. Note: B&E Yarn on Manhattan Ave. is a cozy shop filled with sewing notions, embroidery kits and a very small selection of yarn.

Hope this helps!! And, please feel free to chime in if I missed any of your favorites! See you in class!!
